Found in the Chinese Himalayas, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan in forests on tree trunks at elevations around 1200 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm growing epiphyte with a short stem carrying 4 to 5, nearly basal, sometimes purple tinged, narrowly oblong, leathery, acute and slightly bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the fall on a 2.4 to 3.6" [6 to 9 cm] long, slender, becoming thicker distally, densely many flowered inflorescence with 2 to 3 sheaths and persistent, ovate floral bracts and carrying fragrant, successively opening, short-lived flowers
