Found in the Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan and the Philippines on tree trunks in forests at elevations of 300 to 700 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with a short stem completely enveloped by the clasping bases of to 7, fleshy, distichous leaves that blooms in the spring on an axillary, shorter than the leaves, rather slender, densely several flowered inflorescence with ovate-triangular, shorter than the ovaries floral bracts.
