Found from Guatemala to Colombia in premontane and lower montane rain forests on shady tree trunks as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters with clustered, linear, strongly compressed pseudobulbs enveloped belwo by a few non-foliaceous, sheaths and carrying a single, apical, lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, coriaceous, acute, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a 3 to 4, basal, arching, to pendant, short to 2" [to 5 cm] , single flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with highly fragrant flowers.
