Found in Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Tortola, Windward Islands, Trinidad, French Guiana, Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela and Colombia at elevations of 600 to 1500 meters as a miniature to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with an erect, robust stem carrying a few well spaced, plicate, membraneous, sessile to shortly petiolate, ovate-lanceolate, acute to acuminate leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, single [to 3 possible] flowered inflorescence and has leaf-like floral bracts. The photo shows the plant with seed pods.
