Found in the Cuzco region of Peru at elevations of 2300 to 2800 meters in swampy places in cloud forests as a just large sized, cold growing terrestrial with a creeping to reclining rhizome giving rise to an erect stem carrying several all along the stem plicate, linear-ovate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later summer on a terminal, erect, several flowered inflorescence
