Found in Putumayo department of Colombia, Zamora-chinchipe province of Ecuador and Huanaco department of Peru in moss cushions in shady locales on the western slope of the Pico Sira and adjacent lowlands at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing terrestrial with a recumbent stem carrying many ovate, acute to obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaves with hairy protrusions within the axils that blooms in the late spring [Colombia] and fall [Ecuador and Peru ]on a terminal, erect, peduncle provided with 2, long-acuminate sheathing bracts, 2.4" [6 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with ovate, acuminate, shorter than the flower floral bracts.
