Found in Costa Rica and Panama at elevations around 1600 to 1900 meters as a large to giant sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial and sometimes epiphyte with stems that become thick and pseudobulbous and carrylinear-elliptic, plicate, acute, acuminate, attenuated at the base into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a bracteous, racemose, to 3'4" [1 meter] long, several to many flowered inflorescence with linear to linear-lanceolate, acute floral bracts
