Found in China, Vietnam and Thailand in wet primary and secondary closed forests, often with bamboo, on shale, usually along rocky stream slopes at elevations of 600–1200 meters as a miniatuer to small sized, warm growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying 2 to 6, usually withered at blooming, narrowly ovate, uniform dull green, acute, petiolate base leaves that blooms i nthe late winter and early spring on an erect, pubescent, to 2.4" [6 cm] long, 1 to 10- flowered inflorescence with triangular-ovate, acuminate, pubescent floral bracts.
