Common Name The Sierra Achala de Cordoba Aa

Flower Size

Found in La Rioja, San Luis and Córdoba provinces of northern Argentina in wet montane forests at elevations of 1500 to 2500 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial or sometime epiphyte with no pseudobulbs and a basal set of 2 to 4, suberect, oblong-ligulate to ligulate, acute, narrowly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, terete, 12 t o16" [30 to 40 cm] long, glabrous, lateral, enveloped by cauline bracts, 1.6 to 2.4" [4.5 to 6 cm] long, narrowly cylindrical, many flowered inflorescence with oblong-lanceolate, acute, concave, as long as the ovary, but much shorter than the flowers floral bracts.

"The species is best compared to A lorentzii but it is a taller in stature and is well separated in the shape of the sepals and the shape of the lip and its serrations." Schlechterr 1920
