Found in Bolivia and Jujuy and Tucuman departments of northwestern Argentina at elevations around 1700 to 3200 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with an erect to suberect stem carrying 2, basal, erect to suberect, lanceolate-ligulate, acute, glabrous, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on a terminal, erect, terete, 6 to 7.2" [15 to 18 cm] long, provided with clasping, imbricate, apiculate, paleaceous, pale brown, covered with pale brown spots sheathing bracts, rachis, downy, 1.6" [4 cm] long, narrowly cylindrical, sublaxly many flowered inflorescence with broadly ovate, apiculate irregularily dentate margins, hyaline, slightly shorter to as long as the flowers floral bracts.
"Similar to Aa calceata in habit but A fiebrigii has a loose flower spike and larger flowers and the lip is quite defferent and the column differs considerably." Schlechter 1912 CAUTION!!! I have no way of personally verifying this determination, so please use with caution.!
