Found in Bolivia at elevations of 3300 to 3800 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying a few, erect-patent, elliptic-lanceolate leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, peduncle 3.6 to 6" [9 to 15 cm] long, provided with clasping, acuminate, hyaline sheathing bracts, rachis, [1 to 2" [2.5 to 5 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with transversely rhombic, a bit shorter than the flower floral bracts.
"This species ca be confused with Aa microtidis but A sphaeroglossa has larger flowersand in all is closer to A mandonii but is easily separated by the different lip and column." Schlechter 1922
