Found in Hainan province of China and Vietnam in dense forests at elevations around 300 to 700 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing lithophyte with tufted stems carrrying densely many, spreading, 2 ranked, pale green, ovate-oblong, to ovate-elliptic to elliptic, weakly obtusely bilobed, minutely apiculate leaves that blooms in the spring on a usually pseudoterminal, .2 to .8" [5 to 20 mm] long, successively 1 to 2, to 20 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute deflexed floral bracts
