Common Name The Ecuadorian Buchtienia

Found in Napo and Pastaza provinces of Ecuador at elevations of 500 to 600 meters as a giant sized, warm growing terrestrial with 3 to 5, basal, subdistichous, elliptic, acute to abruptly acuminate, basally abruptly contracted into an elongate petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 24" [60 cm] long, rachis to 16" [40 cm] long, loosely many flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acuminate, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying resupinate, greenish, glabrous flowers
