Found in Zaire, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia in perennially very wet upland bogs at elevations of 1200 to 1680 meters as a medium szied, cool growing terrestrial orchid with ellipisoid tubers giving rise to a leafy stem carrying 6 to 7, lower 2 to 3 sheathing, the largest, lanceolate, acute ribbed leaves are in the middle and grading into bracts above that blooms in the summer on an erect, 2 to 12.8" [5 to 32 cm] long, more or less laxly, to 18 flowered inflorescence
