Found in north and central Taiwan in dry open forests and alpine meadows at elevations of 2000 to 3000 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a slender stem with several basal sheaths and carrying 5 to 8, elliptic-lanceolate to sublanceolate, slightly contracted, acuminate apically leaves that blooms in the later spring and summer on an erect, 2.4 to 5.6" [6 to 14 cm] long, 3 to 14 flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, longer than the ovary, distal ones subtriangular, floral bracts and carrying flowers that do not open well.
