Found in New Guinea in montane forests at elevations around 2400 meters as a medium sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender, terete, glabrous pseudobulbs carrying a single erect, linear, acute, glabrous, coriaceous, narrowly subpetiolate base below leaves that blooms in the late spring on a terminal, many flowered inflorescence with ovate, obtuse to apiculate bracts

Schlechter states that the flowers are red-brown with a lip that is yellow towards the apex.
