Found in southwestern and southern Cape Province South Africa in marshes and on streambanks at elevations of 700 to 1200 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a slender stem carrying many, narrowly linear, acute leaves that blooms in the mid spring through early summer on an erect, terminal, 6 to many flowered inflorescence with the flowers all held towards the apex.

This species will best bloom after fires.
