Common Name The Beautiful Changnienia - In China Du Hua Lan

Flower Size 2.6" [6.5 cm]

Found in Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jianxi, Hubei, Hunan and Sichuan provinces of China in humus rich soils in open forests or shady locations along valleys at elevations of 400 to 1800 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with nearly ellipsoid to broadly ovoid, fleshy, nearly yellowish white, 2 noded pseudobulbs enveloped by membraneous sheaths and carrying a single, broadly ovate-elliptic to broadly elliptic, purple-red below, acute to shortly acuminate apically, rounded to nearly truncate into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, 4 to 7" [10 to17.5 cm] long, with 2, membraneousl, basally clasping bracts, single flowered inflorescence with small deciduous, floral bracts.
