Full shade CoolSummerFall

Common Name The Maw-Like Lip Chaubardiella

Flower Size 2" [5 cm]

Found in Costa Rica and Colombia in premontane and lower montane rainforests at elevations of 1000 to 1500 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with no pseudobulbs and deep green, concave, lanceolate, basally conduplicate, sulcate, apicaulate leaves and foliaceous bracts blooming in the summer and fall on a basal, single flowered, 1 3/5" to 2" [4 to 5 cm] long inflorescence arising on a newly matured growth with a non-resupinate, pendulous flower.

CAUTION Many references including Kew cite this species as a synonym of C subqudrata but they seem quite different in the shape of the lip so I have left it and its synonyms separate.

Synonyms *Stenia chasmatochila Fowlie 1965
