Found in north Vietnam in wet broad-leaved and coniferous mossy forests on rocky limestone at elevations of 400 to 1300 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial or lithophyte with 1 to 5, basal, velvety dark green to nearly black, triangular-ovate to cordate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later fall on a terminal, erect, tomentose, to 8.8" [22 cm] long, 1 to 4 flowered inflorescence with triangular-ovate, acuminate, much shorter than ovary floral bracts.
