This species is from Queensland and New South Wales Australia at elevations of 50 to 1500 meters in moist gullies and slopes in Eucalypys woodlands with a ferny understory or along paths at rainforest margins as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial and has suterranean tubers giving rise to a short stem carrying 2 basal, elliptic, acute leaves and blooms late spring through fall on a terminal, 8" [20 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with an acuminate, tubular sheath above the middle
