Found in Costa Rica and Antioquia, Magdalena and Cauca departments of Colombia in forests among bushes at elevations of 2500 to 3300 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte with 1 rarely 2, basal, erect-patent, ovate to oblong, rounded to subcordate below into the canaliculate petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late spring and later fall on an erect, terminal, peduncle 9.5 to 26 cm] long, provided with 5 to 8, apically densely glandular sheathing bracts, rachis 1 to 1.6" [2.5 to 4 cm] long, cylindrical, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, sparsely glandular to glabrous, slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying small, inconspicuous flowers.
