Common Name Camara-Leret's Cyclopogon [Colombian Collector of the type]

Found in Cundinamarca department of Colombia in Andean cloud forests at elevations around 2900 to 3200 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with 5 basal, rosulate, ovate, acuminte, undulate crispate margins, canaliculate below into the petiolate base leaves that bloooms in the late winter and early spring on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 10.4" [27 cm] long, slender, densely glandular in the upper half, provided with herbaceous, acute to acuminate, lanceolate, sheathing bracts, rachis 5.2" [13 cm] long, loosely several flowered inflorescence with lanceolate-ovate, acute, herbaceous, glabrous, longer than the glabrous ovary floral bracts and carrying small, erect flowers.
"The species is distinguished from all other members of Cyclopogon subgenus Cyclopogon described so far. Cyclopogon ovalifolius widely distributed in the Andes, Cyclopogon secundum from Ecuador and Cyclopogon antioquiensis from Colombia along with the above-described C. camara-lereti. It is separated from the otrhers in the subgenus by its sessile lip, broadly cuneate, with large basal auricles adorned with marginal incurved, conical thickenings. Additionally the lip isthmus is adorned with involute margins and a central cushion-like thickening reaching to the apex of the epichile. The lateral sepals are connate in the basal 2/3's and form a kind of platform beneath the lip." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2019
