Common Name The Hirsute Cyclopogon

Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica in montane rain forests on wet shady slopes and cliffs in organic soils at elevations around 750 to 1800 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with basal, in a rosette, dark green silvery striped, acute, gradually narrowing below into a short petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an erect, terminal, 6.8" [17 cm] long, provided with 4 to 5, small towards the apex, clear purple, acuminate sheathing bracts, apically villose, laxly to 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, slightly concave, acuminate, glabrous, green, red veined, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying resupinate flowers

"Distinguished by the shortly-petiolate base leaves, the leaf blade usually dark green with 2 silvery stripes or sometimews irregularily spotted with silvery white, the short and dense one sided rachis, and the proportionally larger flowers with the tepals greenish-brown and the lip white with 3 longitudinal lines."
