Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil and Paraguay at elevations of 300 to 700 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with narrowly elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below into the channeled petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter and early spring in nature on a terminal, erect, peduncle 7" [17.5 cm] long, enveloped almost completely by imbricate, lanceolate, acute sheathing bracts, rachis 2.8 to 3.2" [7 to 8 cm] long, densely several flowered inflorescence with narrowly lanceolate, long-acuminate, very puberulous, longer than the flower floral bracts
