Found in New Guinea on trees in forests at elevations around 1200 meters as a medium to just large sized, cool growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to simple, terete, densely leafy stems carrying erect-patent, lanceolate, acute to acuminate, glabrous leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect-patent to patent, several flowered inflorescence.

Schlechter states that the flowers are bright red with darker veins, the lip whitish with violet veins and the column has violet towards the apex and the anther is violet with a white apex.
