Common Name The Jug-Like Platanthera [refers to the spur] - In China Jian Yao Lan
Flower Size .24 to .36" [6 to 9mm]
Found in the Chinese Himalayas, eastern Himalayas, Assam and Nepal on mossy banks in very moist, evergreen, broad-leaved forests at elevations of 1900 to 4270 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with narrowqly oblong tubers giving rise to an erect-curved, slender, glabrous stem with a bladeless basal, tubular sheath and carrying usually a single, narrowly elliptic-oblong, subacute to obtuse, tapering below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer and fall on an erect, .8 to 1.6" [2 to 4 cm] long, decurved, laxly 7 to 10 flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, erect, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying narrowly campanulate flowers
