Found in Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo strates of Brazil, Paraguay and Tucuman province of Argentina in low forests as a medium to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with 3 to 4, rosulate, whitish green, fleshy to membraneous, glabrous, dark green, elliptical-ovate to oblong-lanceolate, acute, 4 to 6" [10 to 15 cm] long, pseudo-petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall through early spring on an erect, terminal, peduncle provided with 10 to 20" [25 to 50 cm] long, few flowered, erect inflorescence with 6 to 7, lanceolate bracts and linear, acute, as long as the ovary floral bracts.
