Found in southern Cape Province in dry coastal veldt and in grassy areas at elevations around 800 to 1000 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with subterranean, pseudobulbous rhizome giving rise to smoewhat coriaceous, partly developed at blooming, linear, acute leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, 1 t o2 simple branched, 10 to 18" [25 to 45 cm] long, 6 to 15 flowered inflorescence carrying flowes with a faint soapy scent.
