Common Name The Lax Inflorescence Funkiella

Flower Size

Found in Oaxaca state of Mexico in montane forests at elevations around 3150 meters as small sized, cold growing terrestrial with no leaves at blooming occuring in the spring on an erect, terminal, slender, peduncle 4 to 8" 10 to 20 cm] long, provided with 7 to 10, loose, sheathing bracts, rachis 2 to 3.6" [5 to 9 cm] long, in a loose spireal, 5 to 9 flowered inflorescence with scarious, acuminate, as long as the flowers floral bracts and carrying flowers with white tepals with basal green nerves and a white lip with green nerves at the base..

Differs from all other Beloglottis in its larger lip, that is more than .26" long instead of less than .22', the abscence of leaves at flowering, the laxly flowered inflorescence, the dorsal sepal not overlapping the ovaries of the flowers and the tendency for the distal portion of the pandurate lip to be wider than the proximal portion. This species is now part of Funkiella so much of this comparison is only valid if this species was still in Beloglottis.
