Common Name Valerio's Scaphyglottis [Costa Rican Collector of the type 1900's]

Found in Oaxaca state of Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica in oak forests at elevations of 2400 to 3200 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with 1 to 3, ovoid to subglobose, pilose tubers giving rise to a single, basal, obvate-lanceolate, in place during flowering, acute, long petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late fall and earlier winter on an erect, 2.4 to 4" [6 to 10 cm] long, laxly 3 to 6 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, long-acuminate, scarious, lowermost largest, erect and clasping the ovaries floral bracts and carrying whitish green flowers with a pale rose tinge.
Apparently related to Funkiella parasitica but differs in the lip form. Similar to Microthelys nutantiflora but its flowers are smaller and they have differently shaped petals.
