Common Name or Meaning The Loshan Gastrochilus [A forests on Taiwan]

Found in Taiwan on tree trunks at elevation of 2300 to 2600 meters as a mini-minature sized, cold growing epiphyte with a pendulous, green tinged with purple, glabous stem enveloped by sheaths carrying non-distichous, sessile, oblong, obtuse to acute apically, obtuse basally, fleshy, smoth, with a few red spots, glabrous leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an axillary, short, single flowered inflorescence with ovate-triangular, acute apically, , half as long as the overy floral bracts and carrying a scentless, yellowish flower.

"Gastrochilus loshanensis is readily recognized by its 3.2" [8 cm] long stem, alternate, not distichous, fleshy, oblong leaves and a solitary flower with cuneate-rectangular, .22 to .26" [5.5 to 6.5 mm] long, emarginate at apex, with a 1 to .12" [2.5 to 3 mm] long, .1" [2.5 mm] wide, large hairy, yellow with red spotted plaque in the center, and a ciliate to irregularly dentate at margins epichile."
