Common Name The Lanceolate Petal Gomphichis

Found in Valle de Cauca department of Colombia at elevatuions around 3500 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with 3 basal, erect-patent, linear-ligulate, subacute, narrowing below into the base leaves that blooms on an erect, with about 10 bracts, to 24" [60 cm] long overall, rachis 2.8" [7 cm] long, cylindric, many flowered inflorescence with erect-patent, oblong, acute, as long as the flowers floral bracts.

"G lancipetala can be distinguished an indistinctly 3 lobed lip versus unlobed in Gomphichis caucana. G lasncipetala and G goodyerioides bot have an indistincly three lobed lip but G lancipetala has densely pubescent margins of the petals which arte also pubescent externally but bot G goodyerioiders and G caucana have at most sparsely pubescent sepal margins. G lancipetala has been synonymized by Alvarez [2005] with G caucana. See above for differences." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2019
