Common Name The Ichneumon Fly-Like Habenaria [An African Fly]

Found in Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Zaire, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Angola, Zimbabwe and Botswana in boggy grasslands at elevations of 1350 to 1550 meters as a small to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with ellipsoid to ovoid tubers giving rise to a leafy stem carrying 5 to 12, lowermost sheathing, the next few erect to suberect, narrowly linear leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, 2.4 to 8.8" [6 to 22 cm] long, laxly to fairly dense, few to many flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

The collection sheet above shows, at the bottom but it is wrong as it is a much smaller different flower and then above that it says, H pedicellaris which is now considered to be a synonym of H ichneumonea, so this collection sheet does show the real H ichneumonea
