Common Name or Meaning Koorders' Habenaria [German original collector of the type early1900's]

Found in Java and Mt Kinabalu Borneo in primary, montane forests at elevations of 1200 to 1800 meters as a medium to just large sized, cool growing terrestrial orchid with terete, dark stems carrying 7 to 9, well spaced, high above the ground, middle ones largest, lanceolate, long acute, green above, pale green beneath, darker veined leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, peduncle 4.8 to 7.6" [12to 19 cm] long, provided with several, decreasing in size upwards, erect, narrowly ovate-lanceolate, gradullay acuminate, with a thread-like tip, concave, 3 veined bracts, 8.4 to 12.4" [21 to 31 cm] long overall, densely to 40 flowered inflorescence with strongly, unpleasantly scented, greenish flowers.
Differs from H salaccensis by the dense inflorescence, the undivided petals that more or less descend at the base, the longer lateral sections of the lip and a differently shaped spur.
