Found in Rio de Janeiro state of Brazil as a large sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect, strict to substrict,glabrous, leafy throughout stem carrying to erect-patent, lanceoalte-ligulate, acuminate, decreasing in sized upwards leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, 8 to 12" [20 to 30 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with erect-patent, lanceolate, acute, equal to slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts

Many references place this species as a synonym of H josephensis
