Common Name The Naked Habenaria

Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]

Found in Minas Gerais states of Brazil as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped by leafbearing sheaths carrying linear, acumiante, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the late summer and fall on an erect, 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, 4 to 10 flowered inflorescence with erect, long acuminate, usually shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

"This species is part of a complex that includes H. nuda, H. fluminensis , H. nasuta , H. rodriguesii , H. rolfeana , H. setacea , H. trichoceras Barb.Rodr. (Barbosa Rodrigues 1882), and other taxa not yet identified to a specific level. Habenaria nuda was described by Lindley (1830–1840) from material collected by Martius in the state of Minas Gerais, at an unspecified location. As the type is in a poor state of conservation and the description does not allow for the unequivocal identification of the species and its differentiation from other closely related taxa, the exact identity of the species and these similar taxa is still uncertain."
