Common Name The Rosulate Leaved Habenaria

Found only in Morelos state of Mexico in rocky areas and open exposed pine forests at elevations of 2900 to 3000 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with ovoid to ellipsoid, glabrous tubers giving rise to an erect stem carrying 3 to 6, basal few, orbicular, iridescent, ascending to extending, those above elliptic, acuminate and ascending leaves that blooms in the later summer through early fall on an erect, racemose,2" [5 cm] long, peduncle enveloped by a few tubular, inflated , acute bracts, rachis 2" [5 cm] long, 2 to 6 flowered inflorescence with generally longer than the ovary floral bracts.
"Similar to H filifera but distinguiahed by the irridescent leaves that are held in a basal rosette and a few flowered inflorescence with 3 to 6 loosely arrannged flowers while H filifera lacks the basal rosette of leaves and the inflorescnec is very compact, usually carrying 9 to 12 flowers, furthermore the flowers are smaller and the anterior lobes of the petals and the lateral lobes of the labellum are very thin [filiform] and longer than the posterior and central lobes."
