Found in Goias, Minas Gerias, Bahia, Rio de Janiero, Sao Paulo, Parana, and Santa Catarina states of Brazil in grasslands as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial that blooms in the summer and fall
Similar to H imbricata. In both species, the most developed leaves are imbricated and are concentrated in the lower part of the stem, but H subviridis differs in the larger flowers with the dorsal sepal .22 to .332" [5.5 to 8.3 mm] long, less imbricated bracts which do not cover the inflorescence and it occurs in dry places. H imbricata has smaller flowers with the dorsal sepal [3.8 to 5 mm] long, breacts that completely cover the inflorecence amd occurs in permanently humid locations.
