Common Name The Cheirostylus-Like Hapalorchis

Found in Valle de Cauca department of Colombia and Venezuela in humid forest edges at elevations around 1900 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing terrestrial with fleshy-bulbous, villous, fasciculate roots giving rise to an erect stem carrying 3 to 5 basal, spreading, glabrous, ovate, acuminate, glabrous, subcordate below into the channeled, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, peduncle 4.8" [12 cm] long, provided with several sheathing bracts in the upper portion, rachis to 1.6" [4 cm] long, secund, laxly 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence with elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying resupinate, tubular flowers.
"According to Schlechter this species resembles Hapalorchis lineatus but H cheirostyloides differs in the longer flowers which are narrower in the middle and by the loner gynostemium. The epichile of the lip is transversely elliptic to reniform-suborbicular with prominently undulate margins. In contrast H lineatus the epichile elliptic-cordate to trasnsversely elliptic, truncate to blunt with non undulate margins." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2019
