Common Name or Meaning The Arcuate Kylicanthe [refers to the distinctive shape of the lip spur, which is erect and arcuate and is rectangular in front view]

Found in Liberia, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Central African Republic and Cameroon in submontane forest, occasionally growing in coffee plantations and orchards, in semi-shade to well-lit conditions at elevations of 700 to 1,000 meters as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with numerous, basal on the stem, unbranched, greyish roots with a short stem carrying less than 10, held in a fan, oblong, elliptic, sometimes slightly dissymmetric, margins entire, apex unequally bilobed without a notch, difference between the two lobes .2 to .28" [5 to 7 mm], lobes of apex acute leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on usually 1 to 3, more or less pendent, emerging at the base of the stem, 1.8 to 7.6" [4.5 to 19 cm] long, rachis terete, up to 13 flowered inflorescence with amplexicaul floral bracts and carrying resupinate, greenish flowers with inconspicuous veins.

Kylicanthe arcuata is similar to K. quintasii but differs in its erect spur and substantially larger lip callus that is rectangular in front view.
