Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil in rocky areas near bushes at elevations around 780 meters as a small sized, warm growing saxicolus terrestrial with an inconspicuous rhizome giving rise to cylindrical, 3 articulated, basally thickened, red pseudobulbs enveloped by papery, deciduous sheaths and carrying lanceolate, coriaceous, green, basally attenuate leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, arising through a linear-truncate, oblique spathe, to 16" [40 cm] long, successively 2, few flowered inflorescence .
