Found in western New Guinea in lowland forests as a hot to warm growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome, covered with tubular, acuminate, keeled sheaths and giving rise very small, .8 to 1.4" [2 to 3.5 cm] between each, compressed, obliquely ovate pseudobulbs enveloped basally by a few, evanescent, conduplicate, acuminate, keeled sheaths that become larger upwards and carrying a single, apical, erect, linear, acute, long subulate-acuminate, at the base conduplicate, above on either side convex, mid-rib grooved above, keeled below, papyraceous, sheath in upper part conduplicate, largely petiole-shaped, laterally compressed and grooved in front, in cross-section elliptic base leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, peduncle ancipitous, 8.4 to 11.6" [21 to 29 cm] long, rachis making an obtuse angle with the peduncle, laterally compressed, to 2.2" [5.5 cm] long, in the apical part densely, successively single, many-flowered inflorescence with distichous, patent, conduplicate-ovate, acuminate, acute, keeled floral bracts and carrying red flowers with a white lip.
