Common Name Tan Haw Cheng's Orchid [Sabahan orchid enthusiast and supporter of Kipandi Park current]

Flower Size .36 to .44" [.9 to 1.1 cm wide

Found in Sabah Borneo in partially logged primary forests at elevations of 500 to 600 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to erect, basal 1/3 to 1/2 ellipsoid, upper part a compressed, conduplicate, pale green pseudopetiole w ith 2 to 3, large, pale green, non-persistent conduplicate, triangular, acute, basal scales, and carrying a basally jointed, erect, basaally folded, otherwise flat to slightly v-shaped, , green keeled, acute with a small point leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on an erect, on a recently matured shoot, often arched distally, much shorter thant he leaf, peduncle 1.44 to 3" [3.6 to 7.5 cm] long, widening towards teh rachis, flattened and sharp edged along its length, rachis .24 to .84" [6 to 21 mm] long, enveloped by imbricating, alternating, conduplicate, triangular, acute, situated at right angles to the rachis, floral bracts from whence arise successively single, to 22 flowered inflorescence and carryinmg outwardly facing flowers.
