Found in Sabah Borneo on Mt Kinabalu in lower and upper montane forests in damp mossy places sometimes on mossy rock faces, mossy banks and ridges at elevations of 1400 to 3200 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to an erect stem carrying a single cordate leaf that blooms on an erect, terminal raceme with purple flowers sometimes tipped green,
