Found in Vietnam in primary humid broadleaved evergreen montane forest at elevations of 1400 to 1500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing lithophyte with a short, brown, slender, creeping rhizome giving rise to ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped by brownish papyraeceous sheaths and carrying a single, apical, glabrous, ovate, acute, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on an erect, synanthous, peduncle 1.8 to 2" [4.5 to 5 cm] long, provided with 2 sterile, purplish apically bracts, rachis 1.8" [4.5 cm] long, flattened, 2 winged, pale green from the base to the middle, dark purple to the apex, 4 to 4.4" [10 to 11 cm] long overall, 3 to 7 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, dark purple, greenish apically floral bracts.
