Found in Sao Paulo state of Brazil in remnant Atlantic Forest at elevations of sea level to 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect, terete, green stem carrying 5 to 10, elliptic to lanceolate, discolor, green, decurrent, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, terminal, pubescent, peduncle 2.52 to 4" [6.3 to 10 cm] long, provided with narrowly oblanceolate, glabrous, green sheathing bracts, rachis .48 to 3" [1.2 to 7.5 cm] long, 9 to 10 flowered inflorescence with narrowly lanceolate, glaborous, green, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts and carrying pubescent, green, white towards the apex flowers.
