Common Name The Plier Like Microchilus [refers to the deeply bifid rostellum?]
Flower Size .12" [3 mm]
Found in Ecuador without locality as a small sized terrestrial with a terete, elongate rhizome giving rise to an erect stem carrying laxly, 6, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, subacuminate leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, pubescent, 6.52" [16.3 cm] long (immature) overall; peduncle 2.12" [5.3 cm] long; rachis 4.4" [11 cm] long, laxly flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying externally pubescent flowers.
"K. forceps is like the other Ecuadorian taxa Microchilus ecuadorensis and Microchilus crispifolius in habit, but it differs from these in having a trilobed labellum and a rostellum that is deeply bifid (like in Microchilus) after removal of the pollinarium. The novelty M rotundifolius also has a trilobed labellum, but it differs from all other taxa in the genus in having short stems with approximate leaves." Ormerod 200
