Found in Pasco department of Peru in high montane forests at elevations around 2100 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with an decumbent in the lower 1/3 then erect, terete stem carrying 11, obliquely narrowly elliptic to ovate-elliptic, subacuminate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an erect, terminal, pubescent, " [54.2cm] long, peduncle " [38.7 cm] long, provided with 6 sheathing bracts, rachis 2.6" [15.5] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, almost twice as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying externally pubescent, white flowers.
"This species is similar to its Peruvian ally Microchilus lechleri but it has flowers with a shorter .12 versus .16 to .172" (3 vs. 4 to 4.3 mm) spur, a wider .072 to .0 verusus .05 to .06" (1.8 to 2 vs. 1.25 to 1.5 mm) labellum hypochile, and an epichile with patent (not falcate) epichile lobules."
