Found in Sao Paulo state of Brazil and Pedro Juan Caballero department of Paraguay in isolated pockets of humid woods at elevations of 300 to 400 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with a terete, creeping rhizome giving rise to an erect, terete stem carrying 3 to 5, ovate- lanceolate, acute, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an erect, terminal, densely pubescent, 2.68" [6.7 cm] long, peduncle 1.28" [3.2 cm] long, provided with 2 to 3, oblong-lanceolate, acute, scattereed sheathing bracts, rachis 1.4" [3.5 cm] long, 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, acute, shorter to a bit longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying externally pubescent, grey-green flowers.

"Microchilus pedrojuanensis was distinguished from its synonym M. rojasii by its narrower, lanceolate floral bracts, flowers with a narrower cylindric spur, and cuneate labellum hypochile. In M. rojasii the floral bracts are ovate-oblong, the flowers have a conical spur, and the labellum hypochile is subpandurate." Ormerod 2005
